Belousov Zhabotinsky Reaction

Imagine a canvas on which the drawn lines move by themselves and combine to new forms and shapes. The Belousov / Zhabotinsky reaction possesses this magical behavior. With the support of Prof. Stefan Mueller at the Max Planck Institute Dortmund, I got the opportunity to draw in this chemical solution. For me as an artist, the surface of the Belousov / Zhabotinsky Reaction in the Petri dish became a living canvas. The dynamically changing drawings were a fascinating example of design through self-organization.
